A Fishing Story - 1989 the f/v My Colleen by C. C. Crow photos by author
With most of the work complete the boat was launched early Spring of
1989 in La Conner, Washington and moved down to the Ward's Cove dock on Lake Union, in
Seattle for final fitting and sea trails. Somehow we survived the christening party on
opening day at the Mountain Lake Cut. My 1979 BMW R100S was placed in the fish hold as
we prepared to depart for Cook Inlet on June 14th.
TESTING THE BOAT

Les, with Lori in the background, take her for a test run on Lake Washington

Seems pretty smooth

Scenes from Seattle

The christening party, f/v My Colleen!

Have a piece of cake.

Les raises the crossed-fishbones flag.

It's a nice snug fit for my motorcycle.

Departing for Edmonds from Fisherman's Terminal, Seattle
6-3 SAT
Ride into Seattle, stop at boat on Lake Union, go to Fisherman's
Terminal and leave truck. Return to boat, give Les ride back. He
brings boat over to FT and we load up nets and bike. Have to move
Jenny O to get to lift. I pull off wheel and final drive, 50 cent
hoist. It's a tight fit. Lunch at Little Chinook's, finish
packing. I drive boat back. Get caught in wind, recover generator,
drop off final drive at Bill's (BMW motorcycel shop), pick up tank
bag.
